oh What a time it is

Max is doing OK, this is a big adjustment but I think we are getting the hang of it, I will be happy when he is less of a puppy and calms down a bit...That sounds bad but it is how I feel right now. We are learning his bathroom habits, and he is learning we don't like him licking every available inch of exposed skin. I think a few more toys are in order to keep him happy.

I am stitching along on my March Flip it...(only have 3 days left). And studying for a statistics midterm. I am still a bit agitated with a lack of $ and free time in my life right now. But Spring Break is only a week away. (even though Ill be working on my thesis proposal then).

I am planning on going back to the stitchery mart for their final day tomorrow (everything is 75% off ) and stocking up on some fabric, if there is anything left.

Sitching blogger question of the week

Do you participate in round robins?
If so, how many have you participated in? Do you participate in more than one at a time? Summarize your experiences (good and/or bad).
If not, have you thought about it?

No i don't....althought I would love to stitch for someone else I can never think of something I would want done by others. I am picky about what I stitch.
I am joining the ornament round robin. where you stitch just ornaments with materials provided by others...and end up with a bunch.

What a weekend!!

So here is my weekend (and since I couldn't figure out how to post more that 1 photo to a blog entry ....just scroll down to the other picture posts)
Friday we had reservations at a expensive resturant (a belated valentines day) and we had a gift cert for it so it cost us little $$). Ian comes home with 1 rose (what I asked for) and it is a beauty (see below) he forgot the name but it is white on the outside a red inside. and in the tissue paper was $$ so I could go shopping! Ian knows that I have been dying to go to this LNS that's going out of business this month and have felt pretty strapped so I was very happy. We went to dinner and all was good.
Saturday I hit not 1 not 2 but 3 LNS... with the $ burning a hole in my pocket. The first was the one that is going out of business (about 40 min away) then since I was about 30 min away from the second one...I head into Raleigh (it was ok but nothing was on sale...and the vibe was strange). Then back to Greensboro to my town's LNS (they had XS charts for a $1). Then home. See picture of my haul below . At 4pm Max arrived, he is about a year old and was rescued from the pound....his current owner has another dog that didn't get along with Max. we met him a week ago and decided to adopt him. All was good.
Sunday the s*&% hit the fan...literally. First the good things, we think he is pretty smart, he has learned "sit" and is in process of learning other commands, he doesn't drool, doesn't get on furniture, is kennel trained, doesn't smell too bad (see note), and walks well on a leash (these were my qualifications for any dog) BUT now I am not sure if I am a dog person. First off I feel as if i need to entertain Max constantly...he follows me around and has a bad habit of licking any available skin. With his previous owner he had a doggy door and a fenced yard, so Max doesn't know how to tell you he needs to go out. No, he just goes to a room your not in and does his business there. EWW I wanted a housetrained dog so we didn't have to go through the puppy crap. (glad I don't care about my carpets) I took him out often (3-4 times on Sunday) and he thinks its walk time not bathroom time. NOTE: And to top this off Max has a gas issue, like really bad farts every hour...Ian thinks its nerves, but I SWEAR I almost puked twice yesterday it was so bad. All was not so good.

I hope this works out.

So after the baby announcement, I decided to work on something else.... The Liberty Sampler from the Premiere Issue of Cross Quick. Here it is when we last left it (in Nov). And I think I can finish it by sunday. I finished one bear last night, and I think I will NOT do the border...It is just too overwhelming. I'll post the final picture as soon as its done.

who just ran me over?

Ugh is everyone having a wretched week or is it just me...........
Sunday we had a little party at my house, good cause I had to clean the house, bad cause we are left with so much Junk food.
Monday we went to get our taxes done...I was hoping for a return so we could maybe buy some stuff...but for the FIRST time Ian (we) owes money. Boy was he hot. Now I say Ian owes because I have owed money in the past due to W-2 screw ups and what not. Now we are filing Jointly and even my school credits and our morgage intrest could not save us. Last year we got 2,000 back this year we owe about 460. I think it is cause A past employer screwed up my withholding (again!) and that I made $4,000 in contractual work that was not taxed. Ian thinks it is cause he declared 1 on his w-2 for the first time. Either way H&R Block bites the big one...I never liked going cause it cost about as much as I got back in refund...I like doing it on the computer. And we always get idiots...Last year it was a woman who wasn't sure how to use a mouse...this year a guy wh0 accidentally erases a section and when we saw we owed $900 I had to tell him how to fix it so my school credit was counted.

Well long story short there is a cross stitch store going out of business this month in Hillsbourough, NC and for the first time (in a long time) I have no cash to spend. AGGGGH

And at school there is this abstract for a national conference in May due tomorrow, and the data we needed to finish it came in last week and every time I meet with my advisor she wants to see more graphs of the data...and all I want to do is write my proposal.

But the best news I got all week is here . Wil (as in Wil Wheaton) got a job!! and it's on the best show ever! (you have to read the Blog, I won't give it away...besides he writes it so much better than I ever could)

cross stitching...HA
maybe next week

Stitching Bloggers Q of the Week.

On a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, how comfortable do you feel changing a design's colors or the entire color scheme? Elaborate if you wish.

Well this is funny since I just spent an hour last night totally re-doing a color scheme. I think I rank around a 3. I am doing Lizzie Kate's "Bless the Baby" and at first I tried to change the fabric to use the pink linen from the Just Nan Sampler...but of course the colors from the original pattern are overdyed (and you KNOW I have no $ for that right now)...and I tried the suggested substituted colors...ugh. So then I just messed with trying to pick color from my stash...Finally I switched linens to white, found 7 colors that seemed to work and started stitching. It should be done tonight, Ill post a pic tomorrow.

Long story short I am getting more comfortable with color switching because of money cost of overdyed floss. And since all the designers I like are using them....
